Suzanne Allen began her Edge
journey a few short years ago. She suffered many illnesses and surgeries
throughout her life, but even though her pain prevented her from attending
classes all the time, she attended as many as she could. She was an
inspiration to anyone with limitations. Her saying was “I would rather be
in class doing MMA with you in pain, than sitting at home doing nothing by myself
in pain.” She holds a special place in our hearts, and her accomplishments
at our studio were the things she was most proud of in her life. The Edge
was very important to her, as were all the members here that treated her
like family.
Suzanne lost her battle with
lung cancer in July 2022. Her last month in the hospital, she held her
karate belt in her hands every single day. We loved her as much as she
loved us. This tournament is a way we can honor her memory, and the person
she was, and her indomitable spirit. She remains in our hearts and memories
forever. Sensei G
